Lime Rock Historic Festival 2017

It's been a long time, kiddos. We apologize for the long wait since our last post, but we promise it isn't for lack of getting out and shooting. We have a couple of stories coming soon, so no worries there.

Historic Lime Rock Park! If you're familiar with modern U.S. sports car racing, you know Lime Rock. It seems like every major sports car championship in America has run here. Pirelli World Challenge, IMSA, and the ALMS/Rolex series that make up today's IMSA have been running here for quite some time. Trans Am, NASCAR. This is the oldest race track that's still operating in the U.S., and all the American greats have earned their checks on these hills.

A lot of venues around the world hold annual vintage racing events, but it's special when you attend one at a truly old-school track. Lime Rock's layout today is exactly as it was when it opened in 1955. If you plopped Peter Gregg, Mark Donohue, or Sam Posey in the seat of a car they won with here, they wouldn't even need a practice session.

Anyway, enough about history, pedigree, and all that frivolity. On to the race cars. Emil Blanco was kind enough to get some shots at his home track for us. It's not the first time he's shot at the Park for the blog, and hopefully won't be the last.

Emil Blanco is a true aesthete, not only in his interests, but also by trade. An industrial designer by day, he creates footwear for companies such as Sketchers and New Balance. More of his work can be found at http://www.emilblancodesign.com.
