Everybody knows the « Tour Auto », the most beautiful classic rally on earth, an event to which every enthusiast wants to go once in his life. Moreover, the 2016 edition was its 25th anniversary. Unfortunately, due to my schedule and the distance to get there, it was impossible for me to go.
However, it was no big deal since on the same weekend (April 23rd & 24th), there was another anniversary edition of a beautiful TSD rally, the 15th “ING Ardenne Roads”, organized by Trajectoire. The rally takes place in Belgium near the historic track of Spa-Francorchamps and the participants drove across Belgian and German countryside.
I spent my saturday following and shooting the competitors. The rally gathered 150 cars from the 20’s up to the 70’s, from a prewar Bentley to a Porsche 914/6.
The latter (n°139) is this year’s winner, with Ruben Maes at the wheel and Filip Deplancke to help him navigate with the roadbook.
The weather was not so nice but it didn’t frighten the drivers who took their pride possession through rain and mud. 112 crews crossed the finish line.
I’m already looking forward to next year!
